• What does Tutor Ted offer?

  At Tutor Ted, we provide comprehensive test prep for SAT, ACT, SAT Subject tests as well as the ISEE and SSAT. Our tutoring programs and courses distill
  all of knowledge Ted has gained over the years to introduce students to every type of problem they will see on the test. We pride ourselves on having the most up-to-date and comprehensive material, but that’s not even what really sets us apart. We have found that students achieve the most when they enjoy what they are studying. That is why a principal element of the Tutor Ted philosophy is to keep students energized, motivated, and (gasp!) entertained while they study for standardized tests.

• Are the ACT and SAT considered equally by admissions offices?

  Yes. As of 2011, more students across the country take the ACT than take the SAT. College admissions offices know the ACT and what the scores mean and weigh that test equally with the SAT. With the upcoming redesign of the SAT we are advising our students who are sophomores or younger to take the ACT until we are more familiar with the test format.

• What should I know about the Redesigned SAT?

  The Redesigned SAT (debuting in March 2016) is the broadest ever overhaul
  to the SAT. From the content on the test (gone are obscure vocabulary words and “tricky” math questions) to strategy (no more “wrong answer penalty”), just about everything on the SAT will change. We are diligently following the news on the exam and the released practice tests so that we can give students the very best preparation available for that exam.

• Do you offer score guarantees?

  In a word, no. Although the "score guarantee" has been a successful marketing tool for the big guys, it's not really much of a guarantee—all you get is more prep time! What we do guarantee is this: we will utilize all of our test expertise and energy to help our students have the confidence, knowledge and skills necessary to perform at their peak.

• Can you prep for both tests at the same time?

  While there is some overlap between the two tests, particularly on the English and writing sections, the structure of, and techniques used on, each test is different. We recommend that students focus on one test at a time.

• What are your Boot Camps like?

  Tutor Ted’s Boot Camps are comprehensive, small group classes designed
  to prep students for the ACT and SAT exams. Students enjoy the interactive experience and have the opportunity to get their individual questions answered.

• Why should I choose Tutor Ted over other test prep companies?

• Do you provide tutoring for students with learning challenges?

  We have substantial experience working with students who experience learning challenges. While we’re not experts or specialists, we know how to adapt our teaching methods to meet each student’s needs.

• How is online private tutoring different from in-home tutoring?

  Convenience. The tutors, materials, and approach we use are the same.
  The only difference is that students can have sessions from anywhere and schedule them in between that two hour practice and one and half hours
  of school homework.
